Monterey Park

Monterey Park has a quickly growing Asian population. After a viewing of one of our Monterey Park houses for sale, look on any corner and you’ll find Chinese characters on the building signs of plazas, stores, and hospitals, reminding you that this is a Chinese-dominated neighborhood. Drop by your local bank and be greeted by a friendly bilingual bank teller who is extra polite and pauses an extra three seconds to make sure you’re done speaking before answering your question with a smile. The intersection of Garfield Avenue and Garvey Avenue is called “Downtown Monterey Park” and is where you’ll have to win the parking war to shop at the very popular 99 Market for your staple Chinese ingredients.

At a nearby restaurant, the smell of dim sum wafts through the air and mingles with pickled black bean sauce over fresh steamed fish from a traditional Hong Kong restaurant down the street. Monterey Park has many choices of Hong Kong fusion cafes and Cantonese seafood restaurants, as well as restaurants offering Mainland Chinese fare. Although tailored to the Chinese-American clientele, bigger retail stores and a fitness center have popped up. You can find AMC Theaters, Staples, Walgreens, CVS Pharmacy, and a 24 Hour Fitness Center in the neighborhood. Points of interest include the Jardin El Encanto and Garvey Ranch Observatory in Garvey Ranch Park.
